Zinc is an essential micronutrient which is played a crucial role in many physiological and biochemical functions for healthy growth and development; and reproduction in higher plants. It is present as an essential structural component in many proteins such as metalloenzymes and transcription factors (Figueiredo et al., 2012). In normal soils the primary source of zinc is rocks via the process of geochemical and pedochemical weathering. In soils zinc amount is also dependent on the type of soil, climate, intensity of weathering and various other factors involve during the soil formation process (Saeed and Fox, 1977; Hafeez et al 2013). Zinc availability is greatly influenced by the soil pH, organic matter, CaCO3 and phosphate amount in soil. Generally, calcareous soil, peat soils, sandy soils, submerged soils and soils with high phosphorus and silicon is known for zinc deficiency (Hafeez et al., 2013). However, higher concentration of zinc is also having toxic effects on plants and toxicity of zinc is depend on soil pH that maintain the zinc concentration in soil solution (Daviscarter, 1993).
