Was developed to advise us how much we should eat from each food group to achieve a healthy and most important balanced diet. There are five sections: 1) Fruit and Vegetables 2) Starchy carbohydrates 3) Dairy or dairy alternatives 4) Beans, pulses, fish, eggs, meat and other protein and 5) Oils and Spread. The eatwell plate also provides guidelines e.g.
eat less and more often in small amounts, well if a person can eat 4-5 times a day. Choose foods lower in fat and try to have 6-8 glasses of fluid a day but don’t forget limit fruit juice or smoothies to a total of 150ml a day. Eatewell plate assist a lot in planning a healthy diet and helps to ensure that you get all the nutrients your body needs; it is very important to eat a variety of food so you need to eat some food from each of the food groups each day. Foods from the largest groups should be eaten most often. From the smallest group less often. Eatwell plate helps to understand what foods need to eat and what food need to avoid.
Which products are useful and which not very good. • Fitness apps- are application programs that offer health-related services for smartphones and tablet PCs. Apps were developed to help and inspire people, motivate and coach them, help track a progress and power exercise with great music. Also help to count calories and understand how much exercise it takes to burn off the food you eat. Collect statistic about runs and walks and let’s to see how person improves active life style and what progress made. Fitness apps can be used to assist in planning a healthy diet helping to make healthier choices because apps are always with us and is quite personal. Some apps help doctors and patients communicate from afar.
Very useful and convenient tool, because gives specific instructions. Just need to follow them and do everything as directed. Fitness apps motivate, meet your fitness goals and push in the right direction.• Front of Pack labeling- this is nutrition information on the front of pack. Front labeling show simple nutrition information on the front of pack which is provided by manufacturers. Information is voluntary. Tool was developed to provide customers with information how much calories, energy, fats, saturates, sugars and salt in food along with percentage Reference Intake information. RI information helps the consumer put the food in the context of their overall diet.
That helps to make better-informed choices and improve overall food literacy. All front labels are color coded: red, amber and green. Pack labeling helps to identify healthy food by choosing different color. Red color warns that food is high in a particular nutrient and need to eat less. Amber is neither high nor low for that nutrient.
Green label displays the healthier choice. Front of pack labeling assist a lot in planning a healthy diet because give a quick guide to energy, fat , saturated fat , sugars and salt content and that is a big help customers control energy intake and balance diet. The 2 main methods of food intake used to maintain a healthy body weight: 24hr recall weighed intake and Food Frequency. 24hr recall weighed food intake- 24 dietary recalls is methods of choice and is method which asks individuals to recall foods and beverages they consumed in the twenty-four hours. 24-hour recall method helps to estimate nutrient intakes of population groups and this method is used widely to compare nutrient intakes with specific dietary recommendations.
The advantages of these methods are that they are simple, cheap and a large sample size is possible to obtain. The food habits are not affected by the methods and this method has no effect on person life quality. Method also requires only short?term memory and it is very good for use with low?income and low?literacy populations because the subjects do not need to read or write to complete the recall. Disadvantages of the 24?hour recall include the success of the recall depends on the memory, cooperation, and communication ability of the subject. This method is not useful to analyse foods that do not have nutritional information that is easily accessible (e.g. does not have a nutrient label or has not been previously analysed for nutrient content). Requires skilled interviewer, does not reflect the usual dietary intake, tendency to over report low intake and report high intake all that limits data collection.
24hr recall weighed food intake. Information is quantitative because include various forms of surveys to collect information and information grouped by numbers , has limitations of data collection because people have good as well as bad memory and the ability to estimate quantities vary. These factors affect the quality of the method.
