There are a number of good things that come from supporting equality, diversity and inclusion in work with children and young people to participation and equality of access. For example, supporting equality in schools ensures that different people from different backgrounds participate fully in the education activities and curriculum. Everyone in an educational system, including parents and the students, should be able to get involved in the school’s activities. Equality can be achieved by holding parent’s meetings in schools to design the curriculum and creating student council events. Student council meeting and events ensures that students get involved in the education and school affairs where they can be asked questions directly on how they would like school affairs to be handled. By doing this, it ensures that all different stakeholders are involved. One other importance of supporting the rights of all children and young people to participation and equality of access is that the young people and children develop a sense of belonging and identity when they get involved. They get to learn individually and which makes them feel wanted and valued in the society. Promoting equality also ensures that the children and young people socialize and interact with each other and with other different people from different backgrounds. It is therefore very important to support the rights off all children and young people. Promoting equality in the education system also ensures that the students excel in the school curriculum. It has also ensured that children and young people are able to access the curriculum with no problem. All the students from different backgrounds and social classes therefore get equal opportunities in school. Promoting equality amongst children and young people raises their overall achievement in school.
Promoting cultural diversity is important in work with children and young people. One of its benefits is that it helps people understand and enriches the need to learn among children and young people. For example, in a school setting, students are able to understand teachers because they teach in a language that everyone else can understand. Promoting cultural diversity in school bring a sense of belonging to the students as they feel equal among each other. Valuing cultural diversity also creates an opportunity where young people and children socialize and interact with each other to learn about each other’s cultural diversity. Learning about each other’s diversity helps the children learn that all cultures are equal and that none is superior to the other. It also helps people learn how to deal with discrimination that comes with different cultural diversities. Promoting the value of cultural diversity encourages people to teach each other the importance of cultural diversity.
Children and young people experience prejudice and discrimination either form each other or form older people
