The Role of Education in Homeland SecurityNameInstitutionInstructorCourseDate The Role of Education in Homeland SecurityThe department of homeland security has implemented certain measures aimed at educating the employees of homeland security on different security aspects (White, 2016). The U.S. Department of Homeland Security employs workers at the national as well as the state government level who must be adequately educated and trained on matters of security (White, 2016). This will enable the department in addressing the complex nature of security matters where individuals who engage in criminal activities keep on advancing their tactics making it a requirement for the department to be adequately prepared. Education is important since it equips the employees with the necessary knowledge in addressing security matters (White, 2016). During the training, evidence based strategies are presented which have been proven to give positive outcomes. Education also allows the participants to have a critical thinking process, which is important in the decision-making process in regards to security matters (Alperen, 2017).
Education provides research based knowledge on homeland security affairs, which enlightens the employees in the Department of Homeland Security, which is important in the prevention, mitigation, and response to security issues (Alperen, 2017). Since the issue of security is very important, education should be invested as this will impact the quality of life in the society. Education will improve the performance of security departments by increasing the capability of the government in successfully executing the required tasks (Alperen, 2017).
Through education, a level of excellence can be achieved through training and increasing knowledge of the employees of homeland security (White, 2016). This excellence involves the determination of better and improved solutions in addressing threats that are more challenging. Conducting real-life scenarios has been indicated as the most successful strategy to impact the employees of homeland security (White, 2016). For a training process to be successful, it is important to incorporate real-life scenarios in the training to enhance the education process by helping the participants to apply their acquired knowledge in different scenarios (Alperen, 2017).
