The renowned physicist Albert Einstein (1879-1955) states that: Ethics is a subdivision of philosophy and the viewing of moral value. Ethics also involves the criteria in which human actions can be analyzed as right or wrong. In the educational context, an effective teaching profession requires being dedicated to students and their learning. Teachers have a duty to act in a way that is in the best interest of their students. For that a code of conduct is required. To explain this further, two standards from the educational council of New Zealand were chosen:The ethics perceived in standard one is the concern for education.

This ethic ensures that all students receive education that shapes them morally, encouraging them in their confidence and concentration. An example for this is ‘themed weeks’ being included into the curriculum at the Al Dhafra Private School in the UAE. The themes comprise of ‘Arabic language’, ‘Animal welfare’ and ‘sustainability’. Another ethic is improving of practice. This ethic is intended to constantly improve student’s quality of work for better results.

During the science lessons in the Al Dhafra Private School, teachers use ‘well-thought-out’ questioning strategies. This allows students to brainstorm what they know and what they want to learn. Moreover, safeguarding is another ethic relating to standard 1.UNESCO states that safeguarding is the process in which a school can physically and emotionally safe.
