The main source of electricity is from the battery before electric generators and electrical grids exists around the end of the 19th century. Since the invention of battery, it has been used widely as a source of stored electricity. The development of battery has been changes and improvements has been made to its design and it uses. Italian physicist Alessandro Volta is the one that discover battery in university Pavia, Italy. He proved that electric power resulted from chemical reaction. Georges Leclanché, a French chemist introducing the first battery using manganese dioxide-zinc or known as the first dry cell named as Leclanché cell in the middle of 20th century.
Battery plays an important role in life and toward wireless world. Battery is a tool that runs the electrochemical process. The battery converts the chemical energy directly into the active substance into electricity through oxidation-reducing (redox) reactions. The battery is divided into three types namely primary battery, secondary battery and flow battery (fuel cell). The primary battery is the battery that can only supply electricity within a certain period of time. Examples are EVEREADY batteries that cannot be recharged. The secondary battery is a rechargeable battery that can produce electricity continuously over a long period of time. For example, GRANDCELL, Ni-Cd and Ni-MH batteries. The alkali rechargeable manganese dioxide battery (MACS) battery system is one of the secondary batteries that has reached a great level of progress and is getting the response from the crowd, Ni-MH and Ni-Cd batteries in applied applications.
