The Distance Between Us Book
The “distance between us” is book about Reyna Grande the author of the book. In her book, Reyna Grande talks about her struggles as a child and how she got to where she’s at now. Reyna Grande talks about emotions that a lot of people can relate. Also, in her book she describes the conditions she was living under a kid. A lot of people can relate to many parts of the book.
This book is very interesting because it gives the perspective of a young girl. I personally have a lot of connections. I came here when I was young, my parents unlike in the book decided to bring me here to give me a better life. I was just three years old, and didn’t really know anything that was happing during the transition. Also, wasn’t brought here legally just like Reyna Grande.
Being here illegally is one of the hardest things in life. I didn’t really know about my status until middle school. When I got to high school I was able to get DACA, which is Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. DACA helped me get a job and also helped me to apply to colleges. Right now, I’m pursing a higher education and hopefully I’ll get opportunities to fix my status.
The “distance between us” is a book people should read to learn the struggles of people in Mexico, Central America, or any other place. This book has a lot of truth about the reality of people coming to the United States This book can help people see how much less others have and help them appreciate the way they are living. I would recommend this book to others who want to see the perspective from the other side.
