Studying the module ‘reading to write’ has definitely depended my understanding of individuals and their personal experiences. This is a result of exploring Anh Do’s memoir ‘The Happiest Refugee’ as well as the interactive graphic novel ‘The Boat’ by Nam Le. Both, Anh Do and Nam Le, provide readers with a deep insight about the subject of ‘refugees’ and the struggles and hardships they endured.Body one- the happiest refugee STEELIn The Happiest Refugee, Anh do uses his personal experiences in order to display the struggles in which him and his family endured whilst their journey of fleeing Vietnam and seeking refuge in another country.Anh’s continuous use of first person narrative throughout the memoir allows the reader to feel a sense of personal connection with him, making it more persuasive and causing a better understanding of the insights Anh provides.In the book,
