Rock music’s past history has made it a very versatile style of music. It all started around 70 years ago, many people believe that “Rock” was originated by Elvis Presley.

The music of the 1940’s included: country, blues, jazz, and R&B. However, rock was created by a mix of all these different music genres, which contributed to its birth. Rock music evolved very rapidly from the 1950’s to 1980’s. Rock in the 1950’s was described as blues.

Rock at its beginning was a combination of blues, country, jazz and folk, but it was faster. The founders of this genre were Elvis Presley, Bill Haley, Chuck Berry and Little Richard. They were the ones who revolutionized the music industry and nowadays, they are still popular. Elvis Presley was known as the “King of Rock and Roll”, and he is still remembered by many people. During the 1960’s, the Rock and Roll era came to a decline. However, a new band called The Beatles emerged. They were a very great influence.

The 1960’s were known as the Golden Era of Rock. Then, a new type of rock emerged, it was called Heavy Metal. Even though all the incidents that occurred during this era, other genres began to emerge and rock started to present its power and impact on society. The 1970’s and 1980’s rock was so different from 1950’s and 1960’s rock. The 1970s’s were the years were different types of rock emerged, such as: Hard Rock, Punk Rock, Pop Rock, New Wave, and Soft Rock. Nevertheless, the 1980’s gave it a huge change. The Bands included new styles of Rock, and it led to Heavy Metal.

Band members were using leather pants and had long hair. Rock from these two decades brought new cultures and different audiences closer together. Rock music has a history that will never die. Most of the bands from the decades of 1950’s to 1980’s are still very known these days. Rock is just music and passion, people should stop stereotyping with it being satanic music or with alcoholism. The evolution of rock music is so strong that its’ songs still remain nowadays.

Rock music broke all boundaries around the world and gave society a voice to speak out and express themselves.
