Personal Commitments AssessmentName:Course:Date:Instructor:Be sure you answer both Part 1 and Part 2 of this assignment before submitting.Part 1After reading Chapter 2 in the textbook and the lecture for this topic, write a 2-3 sentence answer to each of the six questions that form the basic components or personal commitments for your worldview. Answer the questions about your own beliefs in your own words, not what you think the Christian worldview believes. Keep this worksheet intact, and only add your answers under each question.
What is your belief about ultimate reality? There is a powerful supreme being who is a personal God indicated by the way he created the humans and controls every nature in favor and to sustain the human life (DiVincenzo, 2015). The Supreme Being created a perfect universe able to sustain itself and a perfect human who functions perfectly biologically. There must be a personal reason why the universe and everything in it was created. The physical realm could not have come into existence on its own and be able to sustain human life and other organisms, which include plants and organisms, which live in water and in the space (DiVincenzo, 2015). What is your belief about the nature of the universe? The universe came into existence for a reason.
The universe came into existence to support the human life and other living creatures on the universe. God created the universe and everything in it in an orderly manner. God made the universe before he created man to enable man to live comfortably while fulfilling his purpose on the universe. Man was given power over everything on the universe (DiVincenzo, 2015). What is your belief about human nature and the afterlife?God is the giver and taker of life since he is the one who created human kind and gave him life. Human beings are special beings since we have knowledge and wisdom about many things on the universe. The humans are the only species capable of doing extra ordinary things and communicating with the creator of the universe.
Human beings have the power to control most organisms and other things on the universe an indication of our superiority. In the afterlife, the human life goes back to the creator, the body is buried here on earth, and only God knows what happens next (Genesis 1, King James Version). What is your belief about knowledge?Human beings are the only species with wisdom about most of the occurrences and happenings on the universe because we are special beings created by a supreme being. There is a supernatural power in humans, which enables us to think and come up with ideas that have never existed before, and this information can be transferred to other humans (DiVincenzo, 2015).What is your basis of ethics? The basis of ethics for most humans is a supernatural reflection about what is right and wrong. Influence from other close members during the growth period also impacts moral principles of individuals.
The background of individuals is what influences different ethics between different individuals (DiVincenzo, 2015). What is your purpose? My purpose on the universe is to take care of everything on this universe and to do good to create a better place for everyone since evil has a negative effect on individuals and the universe. God had a plan when he created all humans and for one to know his purpose he has to get closer to God (Genesis 1).Part 2Answer the following two questions with a 250-400 word response for each.
Your answers to the questions in Part 1 form the basis of your worldview. Now that you have articulated your worldview, evaluate it according to the practical test described in Chapter 2 of the textbook and the lecture. Can you live your worldview out in the world as we know it? Why or why not? Different individuals have different worldviews, which form the basis of their beliefs and the decisions that they make while on this earth. My worldview has been based on the existence of God and his principles and expectations for his creation, which includes human beings (DiVincenzo, 2015).
The knowledge that I have and the experience has shaped my thoughts, beliefs, and important decisions that I make concerning my life. This gives me the courage to live my worldview out in the world since my family and my close friends have all supported most of my beliefs and important decisions concerning my life. My family and my close friends have also influenced my personal worldview ever since I was a child and through my experience, my personal worldview has strengthened (DiVincenzo, 2015).
Based on a Christian background, I got more support from the church members and other Christian members wherever I travelled to. My family taught me about the existence of God and to use the Bible on answers on everything on the universe and I have continued to learn and experience more of God’s existence and his purpose on my life (DiVincenzo, 2015). My worldview has given me courage and strength since I know that God is truly there for me and will always provide wisdom and guidance to me in difficult times. My beliefs about God have also increased over time, which makes me a hundred percent sure about my beiefs with no waivering faith, and no one can be able to change my beliefs since each individual has the freedom to associate with whatever beliefs they deem right. According to my experience with God, I can confidently state that I am sure of my beliefs and even though I may face challenges and oppositions, I am sure of a bright future (DiVincenzo, 2015).Reflect on your current understanding of the Christian faith. In other words, what is the essence of the Christian worldview? How does one become a Christian? The essence of the Christian worldview is a worldview based on love and sacrifice (DiVincenzo, 2015).
God who is the creator of the universe gave his only son because of the love that he has for the human kind to die on the cross so that whoever beliefs in him will not perish at the end of time but will have eternal life (John 3:16). Everyone has sinned but through Jesus Christ, there is hope for everyone because God loves us that much. Christians have the Bible and the Holy Spirit to help them to live according to the principles of God and fulfill their purpose on the universe since God created the human kind for a special purpose (DiVincenzo, 2015). The Bible and the Holy Spirit provides guidance on the right way to live and honor God. Jesus Christ came to restore the original plan of God, which was destroyed at the Garden of Eden by the first human kind. Every aspect of a Christian rotates on God since he is the author and the finisher of everything on the universe (Isaiah 34). God is the overall Supreme Being and the humans are to worship him.
One becomes a Christian by first admitting that they have fallen short of God’s glory and are sinners due to the first sin at the Garden of Eden by Adam and Eve who were the first humans to be created by God. Due to this sin, every human kind that followed has carried the burden of this sin. The next process is to confess the sins one has committed and accept Jesus Christ who is the one who paid the price that we ought to have paid on the cross (Ephesians 2:8-9). After accepting Jesus Christ as his/her savior, the new convert can now join other Christian members who are carrying out the great commission of converting many other individuals with the Holy Spirit as their guidance and power and the Bible to give more principles and requirements on how believers should live (2 Corinthians 5:7).ReferencesDiVincenzo, A.
