when released the ovum moves via the fallopian tube to the uterus. When the penis is inserted in the vagina and sperm is ejaculated. If sperm gets through the cervix it has a change of fertilizing an ovum. If the female is fertilized an ovum becomes a zygote then develops into a fetus in the uterus. At the low, narrow end of the uterus is the cervix. The cervix goes from uterus and leads to the vagina. The two main types of cervical cancer are squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma. Squamous cell carcinoma starts in the thin, flat cells along the cervix.

Adenocarcinoma starts in cervical cells that produce mucus and other fluids. Long-term infections with certain types of HPV can cause almost all cases of cervical cancer. Vaccines protect against infection can find cells that may become cervical cancer. Before the cancer forms these cells can be treated, cervical cancer is usually cured if it is found in the earlier stages and treated.
