In Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar, Antony uses pPathos to argue that Caesar’s assassination was unjustified. In the story, Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare, we learn about Julius Caesar’s last days, his death, and what happens after Caesar dies. One rhetorical device in this story is Pathos. Marc Antony makes fun of Brutus and asks the crowd why they listen to Brutus,. “For Brutus is an honourable man; So are they all, all honourable men.

” (Shakespeare). He is saying if you think Brutus is honourable then all people are honourable. This is using pathos to make people understand that Brutus really isn’t that honourable. The second piece of pathos is Mark Antony addressing the crowd about how they loved Caesar once and now they are not mourning his death,. “You all did love him once, not without cause: What cause withholds you then, to mourn for him? O judgment!” (Shakespeare). This quote makes the people think about their feeling towards Caesar and why they had a change of heart.
