• Staff Development Policy – Staff development is the acquisition and development of skills and know through a planned and deliberate learning process in order to improve personal and organisational effectiveness. More broadly, staff development also includes other personal development activities and opportunistic learning which will enhance the individual’s contributions in the work context –
• Training and Development Policy – The official and ongoing educational activities within an organization designed to enhance the fulfilment and performance of employees. Training and development programs offered by a business might include a variety of educational techniques and programs that can be attended on a compulsory or voluntary basis by staff.
• Professional Development Policy – Process of improving and increasing capabilities of staff through access to education and training organization, or through watching others perform the job. Professional development helps build and maintain morale of staff members, and is thought to attract higher quality staff to an organization.
• Organisational and Professional Development Policy – Developing the organisation and its people to function effectively in order to achieve short and long terms goals and objectives. Organisational development focuses on ongoing improvements within a constantly changing environment. Enhances staff members or teams knowledge, skills and attitudes relevant to their current work or to future roles/

3.2 Explain the need to maintain a positive attitude to feedback on performance
“A positive attitude is a mental attitude that admits into the mind, thoughts, words and images that are conductive growth, expansion and success. It is a mental attitude that expects good and favourable results. It is a strategy that can be used to make you feel good about yourself”
Feedback is something that people receive in everyday life and everyone will be given some for of feedback throughout their lives, and people can deal with feedback in different way’s. There are two types of feedback positive and negative and the type of reaction of a person has can impact their productivity on a task.
1. Positive Feedback – Is where the feedback builds on a person’s strengths and praising them for a good performance. By praising a person, they will continue to repeat the behaviour that the feedback was about, so they can gain secure continued approval.
2. Negative Feedback/ – This is where someone points out what is person is doing wrong and how to change it, this can help people what they need to try harder at and what they need to change
Feedback is an important part of a person’s life, and this is due to the fact that feedback helps people to grow and develop their skills and this is especially true in the workplace. And this is because feedback is supposed to help an employee know how they are doing and let’s them know what they need to improve on. When feedback Is given in the correct manner the feedback should be positive or at least grateful. A person may not want to be told what they are doing wrong, but they may be grateful at being told at how to improve. But sometimes feedback can cause negative emotions, if it is given in the wrong way, a person may feel they aren’t good at their job, but if it is given in a way that seems helpful then the person will hopefully understand that the feedback isn’t to belittle them but to help them to improve.
When feedback is given within the workplace, it should always concentrate on performance and should never be personal. If feedback gains a personal response then it has been giving incorrectly, when a person has a positive attitude to feedback then they will take to the time to consider the feedback and will look at how they can improve.

The growing success of the self-help and personal development movement has assisted many business managers in obtaining more qualified and motivated personnel for their companies, and it has also encourages more people to go into business for themselves”
