Our main focus is to provide suggestions on preventing the usage of social media for negative purpose. Due to the advancement in technology connectivity become easy between phones and internet so students use social media day and night for entertainments instead of using it for course work. According to our findings majority of the students think that social media badly effect the students and give negative impact. They only go online for entertainment purposes. All students are aware of the risks of using the social media in bad way but they don’t care about it so they lose their marks in academics.

We conclude that there is inverse relationship between the performance of students and the usage of social media sites. If students use social media positively, it can help students to gain knowledge about different fields. We made recommendations for students which are include the positive use of the social media networking sites. SECTION I INTRODUCTION TO THE STUDYIntroduction: In last few Years technology has grown rapidly. Therefore, it creates major changes around the world. Due to advancement of technology the communication methods have become easy and connection with other countries are easily established due to advance technology. Social media networks are the online technology that are used for the purpose of communication between peoples and it is also used to connect people together.

Some of the colleges, schools and universities use the means of Social media to educate their students and many other things. Social media network sites are become popular among the students due to their many advantages. Now the question arises that whether Social media has any impact on the academic performance of the student or not. Social media has both positive and negative impacts. From research it shows that there is a negative relationship between social media sites like and its impact on academic performance of students.

This research is mainly focused upon the usage of social media and its effects on the academic performance of the students and the output of study shows negative effects because students spend their so much time on social media site like Facebook and they waste their time of study which creates negative effect on student’s study. All study analyzed that the social media sites are not make for negative purpose but we judge that students become addicted to social media sites. Background:The use of Social media sites by students is so increased due to easy access to devices such as mobile phones, tablets and laptops which are connected to the internet. Due to advance technology every device is easily and speedily connected with internet which also create health problem in form of stress. In research at one of the university in Pakistan which is related to the web use by students which are graduates and post graduate students. The outcomes of this research create a positive relationship among students and social media, and students said that they use social media with respect to academic work. Large part of these researches was completed no less than 4 years back. As the time passed, the use of social networking has expanded.

Purpose:After our study we found that the main problem is that the students spend their most of time on social media due to easy access and new technologies which are come with time to time. Therefore, they don’t give time to academic study and lose their marks and result is that social media give negative impact on students. Some students also use the social media for positive purpose means for their study but negative impact is more than positive impacts because of unwanted advertisements which are play a key role on the mind handling of students. Our study will analyze the advantages and disadvantages of social media on education. The increase in use of media among students from messaging on cell phones to posting status on Face book may be taking an academic toll.In light of all these aspects our goal is to judge the impact of web social media on academic performance of students and to decide if it has a negative or positive relationship.

We design to conduct out research by keeping in mind the end goal about how the use of Social media sites affects a student’s academic performance. Significance:Our study is on the effects of social media on academic performance of students with this study we found that negative advertisements create so much negative effect so those sites which have unwanted advertisements should provide good and academic related work advertisements which are helpful for students and provide positive impact on the mind of students. These findings help students in their study and this conclusion which is we found is added to the social media site like Facebook if government take the step and implement our conclusion on all social media sites which produce positive effect on academic performance of students.Literature review:Social media increase student’s interaction with each other. Arnold and Paulus (2010) found that even when social media is used for an educational purpose, students incorporate the technology into their lives in a way that may differ from the intentions of the course instructor. CITATION Jef l 1033 (Cain, n.d.)Researchers concentrated on the relation between time spend on social media and academic studies.

The general discoveries demonstrated additional time on Facebook squares with marginally bring down evaluations. The normal Facebook users have a CGPA of 2-2.7 while the users who are not use Facebook have a CGPA of 3-4.(Lin et al., 2013) As a student’s age increases, the frequency of off-topic discussions also increases. (Hurt et al.

, 2012; Patera et al., 2008) One explanation for this impact is that social media provides too much stimulation and therefore can provide negative impact on students and they don’t complete their coursework. 1(Kalpidou, Costin, ; Morris, 2011) A study conducted by Ohio State University discuss the relationship between social media and grades. This study reveals that students who utilize social media spend less time on studies and have lower grades.

On the other hand, students who do not use the popular social networking sites conceived good grades.Method of the Study:The method we use to collect the data sets of this study is to ask questions regarding the effect of social media on the academic performance of students using google forms and social media site Facebook as a platform. We ask simple questions regarding our study. The first question was whether social media has any effect on the academic performance of the student. Then we ask if it has effect on the academic performance of the whether the effect is positive or negative.

Then we measure the effect of social media on the academic performance of the students by asking the audience to rate the effects of social media from the scale of 1 to 10. Then we ask our audience how many hours they spend using social media sites. At the end we ask our audience to give their thoughts on the topic briefly. We also study the reports and research papers of different authors from all around the world and collect data from these reports and papers regarding the topic. By studying various reports and papers we get to know the results of different studies conducted by different authors around the world. We use this information we got to conclude our study about the effect of social media on the academic performance of students. Limitations of the Study:The limitations of our study are that we cannot bane that advertisements on social media which are produce negative effects on student or also we cannot stop the use of these social media sites because these sites also produce interaction between students and people of different countrieswhich is helpful for our country 2.

Our study on this topic influenced us that social media also has its own advantages because it creates confidence between students but we should not spend our whole time only on these social media because academic study is more important than social media sites. SECTION IIResults/Findings:After analyzing all the data sets collected in research process we have develop results which are as follows:The first figure shows the percentage of people thinks social media effects the academic performance of the students and percentage of people who think that it doesn’t affect the academic performance of the student.
