DO PLANTS NEED WATER TO LIVE?
The aim of this research report is to determine if plants (in this experiment is green bean) need water to live or just need to be kept wet.
Hypothesis: if the plants are being keep wet daily by the same amount of liquid and grown in good conditions of sunlight, air, temperature, ect. Then the plants will grow normally and be healthy.
Lists of equipments needed to perform the experiment:
1 measuring cup
Lists of materials used up in the experiment:
9 Green beans
2.5 litres of Water
2.5 litres of Coke
2.5 litres of Milk
The independent variables of this experiment are the sunlight and the temperature where the pots are placed.
The dependent variable of this experiment is the growth of the plants in terms of their their height and the number of leaves grown measured in each day.
The controllable variables are the number of green beans, the amount of soil and the amount of liquid (water, coke and milk) used in this experiment
Broken pots ? always keep the pots in the middle, safe place
Pets (especially cats or dogs) may dig soil in the pots => always keep the pots in the high place
Using hand for the soil => wear gloves while doing the experiment
Soil flicked onto eyes => wear safety goggles while doing the experiment
Label the containers “water”, “coke”, “milk”
Fill the containers with potting soil and plant 3 seeds in each of the pots
Measure out 125ml of water and give it to the plants in the “water” pot
Measure out 125ml of milk and give it to the plants in the “milk” pot
Measure out 125ml of coke and give it to the plants in the “coke” pot
Place the plants in a warm, sunny place outdoors or in a window
Repeats the 3rd, 4th and 5th steps 4 times each day.
Record the growth of the plants on the charts below
Number of leaves grow each day
