Citizenship education can be defined as educating children, from early childhood, to become clear-thinking and open-minded citizens who participate in decisions concerning society . Moreover, citizenship issues are mainly concerned with real problems which affect people’s lives and are at times sensitive as it can affect people at a personal level, especially when family or friends are involved. Moreover, it relates to what people think is right or wrong, good or bad, important or unimportant in society. Hence for this assignment, I have decided to choose one particular citizenship issue which is actually having much impact on the lives of people living in my locality, that is, the impact of synthetic drugs on youngsters in my locality. More and more cases of youngsters who are actually starting to take these synthetic drugs have been witnessed and this is really alarming as the effects of such drugs are very dangerous.
They modify the function of the brain, leading to paranoia, anxiety, loss of touch with reality, zombielike behaviour, seizures, loss of consciousness and sometimes death. Therefore, I have decided to address this particular issue in this assignment and try to come with some feasible solutions so as to reduce the number of synthetic drug users in my locality.
